A firearm licence is the specific permission to own or possess a particular firearm and must be applied for separately after receiving your competency certificate.

I don't have my SAPS reference number - how do I get it?

Contact the DFO (Designated Firearms Officer) at the police station where you submitted your application and request your reference number from them. You will need this number to track your application on TrackMyApp.

Do I need a serial number to track my application?

No, you do not need a serial number. You can search using your SAPS reference number together with your ID number. If your application relates to an existing firearm, you can also search by serial number. TrackMyApp supports all three search methods.
